Wisdom of the Snail: A Retreat on Patience & Trust
Wisdom of the Snail: A Retreat on Patience & Trust
The image of the snail invites playful reflection on antidotes to the challenges of our time. During this retreat we’ll remember that a meaningful and fulfilling life is a slow unfolding. Through restful, gentle and meaningful practices we’ll explore the link between patience and our relationship with time itself. We’ll engage each other in deep conversation to cultivate wisdom and trust. We’ll seek to come home to our own souls and to love.
Facilitator - Robin McGauley
I'm a full-time artist and spiritual director. My daily life is infused with spiritual practice since making art requires an intensity of presence to the realities of my inner life and the outer world. I meditate daily and attend weekly sessions at the Waterloo Dharma Centre. For inspiration I enjoy reading (especially exquisite poetry!), walking labyrinths, dancing at the banks of the Grand River, visiting Cedar trees, deep talks with friends, and gardening in my oasis of a backyard. The Iris is my favourite flower. The Snail is my guide. I delight in anything tiny, especially when it's found in the natural world.
For 9 years I was the Program Director of Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre where I designed and facilitated countless retreats, workshops and courses about spiritual practices and spiritual leadership. I'm a certified labyrinth facilitator and I have a post-graduate certificate in Expressive Arts from the Haliburton School of Art and Design. For 10 years I was a part-time faculty member of the Expressive Arts program.
I look forward to journeying with you during this beautiful retreat!
