This Ancient Love - Gaia Ring - Size 8.75
This ring is a part of my 'This Ancient Love' collection which is inspired by the words of a hymn by Carolyn McDade that speaks of the divine feminine. Here's the first verse:
"Long before the night was born from darkness
Long before the dawn rolled unsteady from fire
Long before she wrapped her scarlet arms around the hills
there was a love
this ancient love was born." - Carolyn McDade
I named the creations in this collection after a specific goddess or an aspect of the sacred feminine.
This ring is named 'Gaia' - earth mother goddess.
Gaia is spirit of the earth. She is the origin - the source of life.
We all came from her.
Deep beneath the earth -
cedars, mushrooms, snails, strawberries -
each one its own branch of the same tree
leading back to the one seed of Gaia.
"Gaia... is fertility incarnate, moist, mysterious, strong. She is life energy itself; everything that lives, breathing or not, overflows with her life. She is the earth and all the powers of the earth... As goddess of the soul, Gaia reminds us that the soul develops in dark places and that ultimately soul must be rooted in body, in earth. She is a reminder that we must ground ourselves in the reality of nature and incorporate all sides of ourselves, be they pleasant or unpleasant, light or dark." - Michael Babcock
