This necklace is handmade out of quality sterling silver using traditional fabrication silversmithing techniques.
It features the word GROW that is placed on a dome and a branch with an oak leaf and a green druzy stone.
The pendant measures 4cm at its widest point and 3.6cm tall.
The druzy stone is set in fine silver.
The chain is completely handmade.
Each link is soldered shut.
The chain together with the statement piece measures 17.5 or 18.5 inches long - depending on which link you use at the back to fasten it closed. It closes with a handmade hook clasp.
This necklace has three larger jump rings at the end of the chain. I added these intentionally as a symbol of commitment to reconciliation. The three links represent the 'silver covenant chain' that was a treaty between indigenous people, especially the Haudenosaunee, and early settlers to Turtle Island to foster friendship, respect and peace between them. The covenant was created in silver because it tarnishes if you don't tend to it. It was a visible reminder that friendship, respect and peace needs to be nurtured with care. 20% of the sales of my Oak collection will be donated to Five Oaks.
Five Oaks Centre is dear to my heart. It is a sacred place of radical hospitality. It is the place where my dreams of working at a retreat centre came true. I was the Program Director there for 9 years and loved my work. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Five Oaks is providing accommodation to migrant farm workers who need to be in quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Canada. Financial support is needed to keep Five Oaks open and to support this important work. More information about Five Oaks is found on their website: www.fiveoaks.on.ca
Thank you for your support and generosity!
