Earthy and elegant,
Like a song in minor key,
Like evergreen bent by snow,
Like thriving in the shadow of hope,
Like dancing with you in the dark.
For these times of uncertainty and pause,
gather the earthy elegance of the Cedar
whose spirit holds prayer, healing, dreams
and protection against disease.
This necklace features an ethically sourced rose cut zawadi sapphire cabochon.
It is a gorgeous rich chocolate brown colour. The stone is set in fine silver.
A hand fabricated cedar cone hangs from one side of the hinge for the bail.
Cedar is one of the primary medicines of Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. It represents health, wholeness and wellbeing.
The cedar cone is fabricated by hand out of sterling silver. It is not cast.
The pendant measures 2.6cm long x 1.4cm wide.
The chain is completely handcrafted out of sterling silver. Each link is soldered shut.
The chain is 18 inches long and closes with a handmade hook clasp.
This necklace has three larger jump rings at the end of the chain. I added these intentionally as a symbol of commitment to reconciliation. The three links represent the 'silver covenant chain' that was a treaty between indigenous people, especially the Haudenosaunee, and early settlers to Turtle Island to foster friendship, respect and peace between them. The covenant was created in silver because it tarnishes if you don't tend to it. It was a visible reminder that friendship, respect and peace needs to be nurtured with care.
