Cedar reminds me of playing in the forest as a child. I remember my brothers building a tree house in a sturdy cedar.
Cedar is also one of the medicines of indigenous people on Turtle Island (North America). In the barren winter they would boil cedar to make a nutritious tea - giving them the vitamin C that was needed to survive.
May this necklace remind you of all the things you need to stay healthy in body, mind and soul - the playfulness of a child in the forest and the wisdom of the elders.
This necklace is hand fabricated with sterling silver. I started by drawing the shape of the cedar branch and then cutting it out of a sheet of sterling silver.
The pendant features a 6mm green peridot gemstone that I set in a bezel setting.
The necklace fastens at the back with a handmade hook clasp and includes my initial tag.
The chain is 18 inches long and can be up to 20 inches.
The silver is oxidized to add depth and dimension.
This listing is for one necklace.
Lovingly handmade by me, Robin McGauley.
