Just by Being - Necklace

"Sometimes I wish I could photosynthesize so that just by being, just by shimmering at the meadow's edge or floating lazily on a pond, I could be doing the work of the world while standing silent in the sun." - Robin Wall Kimmerer

I have been reading a book called 'Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.' The author, Robin Wall Kimmerer is a botanist and writes exquisitely about the natural world around the Great Lakes basin.

Her writing reminds me of my connection with this land and especially with the water. I have been soaking in every word of this book. It is rich with wisdom and elicits a longing within me that I had forgotten was there.

I wrote the sentence above in my sketchbook and just knew it was going to inspire my work.

And, Voila! This necklace (and a pair of earrings that are listed separately) came into being.

The necklace is made of sterling silver. The aqua cabochon stone is called Adventurine. It is 8mm x 6mm.

A lot of people mis-judge the size of my creations by the photos, so pay attention to the measurements. The pendant is likely a lot smaller than you realize.

The pedant is 1.6cm x 1.5 cm.
It is a hollow form - and is 3mm thick.

The necklaces is 20 inches long and has one inch length at the back with larger loops to make it slightly adjustable. It closes with a handmade hook clasp.

100% designed and lovingly handmade by me, Robin McGauley.
