Earthy and elegant,
Like a song in minor key,
Like evergreen bent by snow,
Like thriving in the shadow of hope,
Like dancing with you in the dark.
For these times of uncertainty and pause,
gather the earthy elegance of the Cedar
whose spirit holds prayer, healing, dreams
and protection against disease.
This necklace is completely handcrafted out of fine silver, sterling silver and 23.5k gold.
It features an ethically sourced zawadi sapphire rose cut cabochon.
The cedar cone is hand fabricated - not cast.
The chain is completely handmade and each link is soldered shut.
It is 20-21 inches long - depending on which link you use at the back to fasten it closed. It closes with a handmade hook clasp.
The gold is applied using a technique called keum-boo which involves a thin sheet is gold that is fused to fine silver using heat and pressure.
This necklace has three larger jump rings at the end of the chain. I added these intentionally as a symbol of commitment to reconciliation. The three links represent the 'silver covenant chain' that was a treaty between indigenous people, especially the Haudenosaunee, and early settlers to Turtle Island to foster friendship, respect and peace between them. The covenant was created in silver because it tarnishes if you don't tend to it. It was a visible reminder that friendship, respect and peace needs to be nurtured with care.
