"Sometimes I wish I could photosynthesize so that just by being, just by shimmering at the meadow's edge or floating lazily on a pond, I could be doing the work of the world while standing silent in the sun." - Robin Wall Kimmerer
I have been reading a book called 'Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.' The author, Robin Wall Kimmerer is a botanist and writes exquisitely about the natural world around the Great Lakes basin.
Her writing reminds me of my connection with this land and especially with the water. I have been soaking in every word of this book. It is rich with wisdom and elicits a longing within me that I had forgotten was there.
I wrote the sentence above in my sketchbook and just knew it was going to inspire my work.
And, Voila! This pair of earrings (and two necklaces that are listed separately) came into being.
They are made of sterling silver. The aqua cabochon stone is called Adventurine. It is 8mm x 6mm.
A lot of people mis-judge the size of my creations by the photos, so pay attention to the measurements. These are likely a lot smaller than you realize.
With the earrings hook they dangle 3.5cm long and are 1.5cm wide.
100% designed and lovingly handmade by me, Robin McGauley.
